At Last, Black and White, Alikes

Many years have come since the first blacks arrived in here, America, whatever in South or North. At the beginnig, they suffered, but now, they are seen finaly as human beings, thank's God... But is it true?

In many countries, colonized by europeans, blacks were always treated as creatures fitted to work in honor to their owners, always whites.

In the United States, the 50's and 60's were very important to the civil rights, what means, in this case, black rights. People didn't want to see anymore drinking fountains for whites and taps for blacks; black female jazz singers, ables to sing beatifully in bars, to the whites, but unables to use the whites' bathroom; different seats in buses; crosses on fire, and so on.

In Brazil, research centers were created to develope “the good race”, with money from the government and supported by important personalities like Monteiro Lobato, the great writer.

Here in USA, as in Brazil, blacks were pushed to the periphery when they became “frees”. So they stablished in quarters like Harlem and Bronx in here and in places called favelas, as in Brazil.

But now the most powerfull man in the world is black, the most famous first lady in the world is black too, as their children are. So, is the world changing at last?

Martin Luther King said: “I have a dream.”; Obama said: “Yes, we can.”; I say: Well, I hope...
