Because of a grain of sand
It was a big wall
Made of tough stones
Impenetrable
An admirable structure
But it was so unfathomable and so high
That even the light of sun couldn’t pass
And inside there was a splendorous winter
Any creature inside had never known
What warm could be
Nor what was a bright light
They were all fine
In their pure cold
They were sure that was paradise
And so they felt
Until a tiny grain of sand
Fell from between the stones
And a glance of light came in
At first, they became all blind
And completely confused
Because of that weird shine
Then some got desperate
While others got curious
And there was no more peace inside
Somebody said
“Let’s cover that tiny hole
And we all shall be fine”
But the crowd didn’t listen to him
And the sun burnt all those creatures
Unprepared to feel the heat
And what was once a splendorous winter
Became a huge slough
Carrying in its deep bottom
Every stone they decided to remove
