The Last Chapter

I have never thought that once you were gone,

my love for you would cool off.

I’m not desperate, I’m not insane jealous –

I’m just going in the right direction.

I’m picking up the pieces,

I’m putting a band – aid

over the wound that is healing,

I’m getting over it – finally.

Some of my friends might think “she’s over him”

but I’m sure nobody could ever understand

what I once had felt, a love that was magical to me

even though it was traveling on one way street.
