You should pay attention to where you click, because a malware might be in the most unexpectedly links. For example, if you receive an e-mail telling you have earned an enormous heritage, from a distant relative you didn’t know they exist. The only thing you have to do is type your data, like CPF, RG and specially bank account number, in order to have the money deposited! You feel your body trembling in happiness, don’t you? Oh, being lucky is so exciting!

Come on, lad, don’t be a mooncalf and get rid of that e-mail! Can’t you see that the likelihood of this message being a booby trap is huge? Nevertheless, I guess many people turn into naive baits when they see a very attractive sum of money. It looks a great trap for Jews!

A lot of e-mails have links pointing to porn pictures and videos, mostly advertising that gorgeous, hot women are naked and making it! Apparently, crackers presume that most of their targets are pervert men’s PCs, because that’s a very usual virus. Beyond the amusing promise of voyeurism sex you may find spywares, keyloggers, worms, Trojans and plenty others! Feel free to get your computer screwed…

The best warning is to invest in a good anti-virus and keep it active. Pay attention in each e-mail, link and unknown contact in social networkings. I’m telling you not to add anyone! I imagine you’re willing to be popular and show a lot of friends, but if you’re facing this awkward situation, you should log off your Facebook, Orkut or MSN, turn off your PC too and meet people in real life! Consider this piece of advice, because it’s free, anyway.

Take special careful with the e-commerce. There’s a lot of suspicious websites which have a very good make-up. Check all details of the product you want look for privacy policy, try to ask other clients and send e-mails to the company. Avoid buying in places you don’t have the faintest idea of their whereabouts.

Internet is likely the greatest tool of the 21th century. It’s made to be useful and enjoyable to us. If you check all my hints and think about them, you won’t have reason to be afraid. In doubt, you should only err on the right side.
